I’m currently looking at getting my PT certification. With the variety of different certifications available my question is does it really matter which certification program I decide to go with? Obviously I would only look at programs that are NCAA approved and not some fake program. It seems that some certifications are harder than others which makes me wonder at the end of the day does it really matter which recognized PT certification I go for? Feedback appreciated!
It does depend a bit on what type of training you may be doing–athletic training, special populations, general training, etc… It will also depend on which certifications are generally accepted in your area (do some research and you may even make some good connections in the field). This will help you narrow down the certification that is best for you.
Here is an article from IDEA that my help you..
Hope this helps!
Here is another article from another point of view (and I think it includes a link to a comparison chart):
Hi Christy. Decide on what areas of this vast field you’d like to focus your practice in and then research the various certification programs out there that might be suit your needs. While each program you research may be accredited, I think that it’s a mistake to say or think that they’re all essentially the same – they’re not. Different focuses, different trainer support, different certification requirements and fees etc. Good luck!
