Hello, as stated by some others joining associations and sites like this one will be of assistance…
To market self get as much referral info as possible from prior clients or business associates. Your experience not just # of years in industry will speak volumes, back it up with a lil reputation for success or knowledge base and you have an initial offering.
DECIDE ON A MARKET to serve or spin ur wheels trying to compete w/every1 else in this industry.
What do u excel @ in this industry, sales, program design or specialty services? Are you a well rounded instructor experienced or @ least familiar w/a variety of conditioning methods?
Promote your business to who you want to serve. Use their interest’s to help you expand your marketing efforts.
There are really many option luv, maybe just start right here @ IDEA
All of the above ideas are great. I also got a lot of business by joining a few network groups in my town. They can provide you with many referals (of course you will have to give out some as well), and they love helping other memebrs in their group. If you teach any classes, you also invite an editor or a reporter from a local newspaper or magazine and have them try out your classes. They can be a great asset to you and best of all, they can advertise you for free.
I would suggest creating a business page on facebook and inviting all your friends to like it, then post fitness related material (videos, quotes, photos, when your fitness classes are if you teach any, any discounts you may have, articles, etc) weekly. You can do the same thing with twitter. If you have an email list, then monthly newsletters can be useful (mailchimp is free & easy to use). Get the clients that you’ve trained to review you on yelp (I’ve gotten a lot of clients that way). Last but not least, keep showing up at social events and meeting people.
Talk about your services to friends and family. Let them know what you’re offering. Maybe even offer your services free for the first session or at a discount for the first client. Then train them at a time or location, where others can see what a great job you do. You’ll get more clients through word of mouth and a job well done, than the best marketing out there.
