I have a loved one with RA. She is young, 29 years old and has been suffering from RA since she was 17. The pain consumes almost every joint in her body. She has flexibility during her workday (it is at home) for her to exercise throughout. What type of exercises and stretches can she do at home to alleviate both pain and stiffness?
Movement is the best thing for arthritis. While at times it may be difficult to find the motivation to move it is the best medicine.
Do you use an arthritis pain scale measure?
Remember movement of the body does not have to be standing. It can simply be ROM of single joint and multi joint exercises or stretches. For example, finger and wrist exercises can be done anywhere. So, if we know that moving every half hour during our work day is important, then designing exercise and stretches for her that she can do every half hour during the day can help alleviate pain and stiffness. One joint every half hour.
