I have a couple of questions for those who have opened their own gyms.

My business partner and I are well on our way to opening our own fitness club (business plan complete using SBA template, market analysis complete, name and location selected). We have a combined 14 years management experience across a variety of venues (from private training studios to 40k sqr ft fitness centers). Our next step will be to meet with banks to seek an SBA loan for partial financing, and for context, our club will be 6k sqr feet and offer basic services (freeweights, cardio, group classes, personal training, locker rooms) in a medium-sized metropolitan community (20k-30k population).

1. When looking back on all your struggles & all you have accomplished, What are the things you know now that you wish you knew starting your business?

2. What where your biggest surprises/challenges & how did you overcome them?

– what type of gym you operate (training studio, 24-hour hour club, large gym, etc.)
