Online Sign in for Group Fitness Classes
I am interested in hearing from any Group Fitness Managers who use online reservation systems for group fitness classes? Currently members at our club can sign up in person no earlier than one hour in advance and obtain a ticket to attend a limited space class. Issues we face are members keeping tickets and not handing them in to use the next time and disgruntled members when class fills up because they were not able to make it to club in time. I am wondering if an online sign up system solves issues or has it’s own set of issues? Do people sign up online and then don’t show up? Does it create more work for front desk staff who may need to sign members into class online if are not tech savvy? How was the transition into this kind of system for members? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks
Interesting dilemma.
When I teach at places that take tickets, I take the ticket upon entry. It makes me be the registrar, which is kind of a pain in the butt, but that way I know that the person has paid to be in my class (which in turn means I’m going to be paid that they were there) and that the ticket will only be used once.
Using something like MindBody for payment and registration works, but I still have to take attendance and reconcile MindBody to the people who actually came. IMO, that’s an even bigger pain in the butt, but it’s do-able because for the class where I have to do that, the largest attendance is 8 people. I couldn’t do it with the set-up I’ve got if I had more people than that. MindBody is at the front desk and the group-ex room is far away from the front desk so people could sneak in etc.
