My trainer is letting me go because my time slot is inconvenient after a year of training; what do i say to him?
I have trained with this trainer since last Dec. I have gone 2x a week, and rarely, if ever cancel. I follow his program, eat right, treat him very respectfully, and thought that we had a very good relationship. My timeslot is 7 – 8PM, and he is moving an hour away from the gym in Jan. His first client is at 5AM. I understand that it is inconvenient to be his only evening client, but I would think that he would try to offer some sort of solution to continue the relationship. He has done nothing, and I am really annoyed.
Wow, a lot of great comments!
Years ago I had a client I trained a 5:00/5:30. It was sooo difficult for me. I was trying to figure out how to say something, and it was really challenging. Before I could say something, her work schedule changed. I was fortunate. For me training at night is a challenge too. My preference is from 6:30 to 3:00. At times I take clients later. Other times it turns out to be a split schedule, morning workouts, an afternoon gap and then train people again in the evening.
As you can ascertain that is a long day. For me I prefer to train in the morning and afternoons. It could be his schedule. Sometimes we have to decide about driving far. If it’s a half hour driving each way for an one hour appointment, for us that’s two hours :/
Just another potential scenario.
By the way, it’s great you’ve been quite diligent, it is really nice to have such dedicated clients. Remember change is difficult for all of us. I learned this week we are wired to resist change :/ You know those sayings, “when one door closes another one opens” and “that means there is probably something better!”
