I have trained with this trainer since last Dec. I have gone 2x a week, and rarely, if ever cancel. I follow his program, eat right, treat him very respectfully, and thought that we had a very good relationship. My timeslot is 7 – 8PM, and he is moving an hour away from the gym in Jan. His first client is at 5AM. I understand that it is inconvenient to be his only evening client, but I would think that he would try to offer some sort of solution to continue the relationship. He has done nothing, and I am really annoyed.
Say, “Thank you for the year we’ve spent together. I’m sorry our schedules don’t match up any more. Can you recommend another trainer who is available in the evenings?”
I understand that it’s a difficult thing when there are changes to a training relationship. Especially if you are feeling satisfied with the results you are getting from him, it can be scary to move on.
That said, asking him to re-arrange his schedule if he’s not training at nights is a very large request, one that he’s not obligated to honor. He is moving an hour away, so it would take him 3 hours to train you – 2 hours driving and one hour training. Possibly more, because he will likely build extra time into his commute to you so that there are no glitches due to traffic as he would be driving towards you at the end of rush hour.
