I recently retired from the military 25 years active duty and seeking to expand my civilian knowledge and physical fitness exercise knowledge. I am familiar with training military personnel one on one, body fat assessments, exercise modifications, special population fitness, weight training, meal planning, healthy weight loss and competitive weight lifting. I was AAFAA certified years ago and recently obtained my ACE group fitness certification and indoor cycling instructor from Les Mills. I have no intention of working at a fitness facility as a personal trainer. If I plan to work with individuals teaching them about exercise and fitness in small groups or one on one, do I need a civilian personal training certification. I feel very knowledgeable and confident that I already know the information however don’t know if I need to obtain a civilian PT certificate. Thank you.
Your credentials are just fine. As Karin mentioned above, just be sure to get liability insurance. Best of luck to you and thank you for all your service.
