I currently do mostly in-home training, but I’m considering getting my own small location (1,000 ish sf) to set up a micro-gym for 1 on 1 and small group training. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with setting up a business of this type. Currently I’m looking around for a micro-warehouse type industrial space, to minimize rent, preferably with a garage door, to allow for easy movement of equipment outdoors in the warmer seasons, but there seems to be a lack of easy accessibility to listings of that sort on-line. So my main questions are how did you go about finding your space, and was there any unforeseen difficulties with starting up. I have a good concept of how my marketing and cash flow will look, but any feedback would be appreciated.
I would make sure I do my demographics and that the clients I have would make the drive. Also making sure of my business plan and having enough capital to cover the transition because as trainers if we are not training we are not making income. With a studio it costs money every day, training at a clients house or office doesn’t cost on days we don’t train them, just a few things to keep in mind. As an I C you still have the cost of rent or % on clients you train. Good luck!
