I recently left a non-profit setting, like the “y” and have began my personal training co. I am faced wtih having to start from scratch. It has its ups and downs. Alot of time, yet not very much business. I am navigating things right now, and not exactly sure where to start. What books have you read? Do you reccommend sitting down, with an ink pen and paper and writing out a list of folks that are in my network?
Hi Rachal. I think that you’ve already hit the nail right on the head! Sitting down with a pen and paper and writing your thoughts and ideas on paper – brainstorming – is a great way to start! As the saying goes “failing to plan is planning to fail.” Use your brainstorming time as a ‘brain dump,’ and literally put any of your ideas on how to promote yourself and your potential contacts down on paper, no matter how remote or crazy it may seem. Then, I’d say step away for a bit and let your mind relax. Come back and revisit your ideas and see where they lead you – I think that this is a great way to get started!
