Make It Fun!
I work in a hydrotherapy pool and try to give my clients the best workouts I can think of. However, I do have those certain clients who cancel what seems about every other week. I am thinking I need to give them more of a reason to come in other than exercise and I would really like to add a component or two to try to “make it fun” for them and so they don’t always feel like they are working out. (Most of them are older and set in their ways so they can be a challenge already). For some of my clients I have played tug of war, encouraged boxing aimmed at me, had noodle fights, played with the medicine ball etc. But I am open to all sorts of suggestions that can be adapted to the pool.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Missy,
How about some mini beach balls? There are a lot of fun “exercises” you could do with these.
You mention your group is a little bit older, and that population also likes the social aspect of a workout. Having the group pair up into partners or something that involves a game or two may work well. I also like the idea of music–great for not only the enjoyment factor but also for coordination.
Hope some of these ideas help!
Christine
