I’m renting space at a Fit Body Boot Camp that just opened. I want to teach boxing to people who need to lose 50 pounds or more. We are both struggling to find clients. She has done everything Fit Body has told her and not much has happened. I’m using Groupon and want to target Weight Watchers if they let me. Any ideas on how to get more clients?
Hi Mary Ann,
it’s been a while since you posted your question, and I am wondering how things worked out for you.
One of the things I heard you say again and again is that you love boxing and how much is has helped you. However, the thing about training is not to make people fit your program but to make programs that fit with the goals and desires of people.
Boxing is a niche, and while it is certainly great cardiovascular activity, it is not for everybody. The majority of people looking for a trainer are women, many of them not that young any more. Is that the demographic that would jump at the thought of doing boxing?
Since this is your specialty, though, you need to ease people into it. Teach classes where you introduce just little bits of it, and don’t call is boxing from the start.
Wishing you success.
