Check out Mobility WOD. Just google it and click on the website. A physical therapist named Kelly Starrett has tons of videos on stretches and exercises for all kinds of ailments. I am sure you can find a bicep tendonitis video. I have used plenty of stretches and exercises on myself and my clients with great results. I use to not be able to do dumbell shoulder presses and now can perform clean and jerks and snatches with no problem in part thanks to Kelly.
Thanks for your responses. My doctor suggested it but didn’t require it. So i’ve just been laying off or it and icing it. But Susan i’m thinking my situation might be kinda like yours because my shoulder feels fine while doing bicep curls and i have full range of movement in my shoulder so i don’t suspect rotator cuff. but anything involving my pectoralis such as bench press, cable fly’s, Incline chest press or even lateral raise gives me some discomfort and dull pain with soreness the next day or even that night even at low weight barring exercise. So i’m just now discovering this as i’ve been laying off the weights. So i’m thinking an MRI is the way to go.
me one more time. I had two shoulder surgeries for impingement syndrome, and what you are describing in terms of exercises that are hurting sounds exactly like what I went through. It was a weakness (not a tear) of my rotator cuffs, and if I had known then what I know now, I may have prevented the surgeries by going to physical therapy and taking their advice VERY SERIOUSLY.
Please go back to the doctor ASAP. Let him decide whether or not an MRI is in order, and as he already suggested physical therapy, please go. Once shoulders are where yours seem to be they do not get better by themselves. Ice and laying off are good steps in the right direction, though.
I have had that before as well. Working hard on shoulder flexibility and changing my program helped a lot.
