Personally, I refer my clients to a registered dietician if they can’t follow the guidelines. It isn’t my scope of practice to create meal plans, etc. I can recommend more fruits and veggies and less sugar and snacks. But when the guidelines aren’t enough to get someone to change their eating habits, I refer them to an RD.
Hi I’m asking about software programs similar to Evolution Nutrition not educational programs. I have already graduated and obtained my designation as an RHN Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Just need something to make my job more time efficient instead of doing this all from scratch.. This program is best suited for a personal trainer or a nutritionist working in a gym/weight loss center. I deal more with meal planning for special needs such as gluten free, food intolerances, celiac, diabetes, IBS, crohns… etc
I’m in Toronto Canada
Rules vary state by state, first as to who can provide what sort of services, and second as to who can bill insurance for services.
That said, you are to be commended for seeking out quality education before performing services, regardless of what you might be able to ‘get away’ with.
The best route is through a university. This will provide appropriate levels of education, as well as a credential that will be accepted by employers, usually by insurance for billing, as well as by providers of professional liability insurance. Depending on your state there are often less expensive but quite good community colleges that offer such programs.
Do be aware that there are lots of programs out there that would love you to give them your money and will charge less and take less time than a degree program. I have also seen at least one where it is made to look like the people in the program studied at a university, but in fact studied with a company that had a relationship with a university. Such programs can be quite good… I think you just need to do your research on what is near you, decide time frame and budget, know your local laws, and be scrupulous in your advertisement of your business and your scope of practice
I didn’t see on your profile where you are located, so cannot answer further, but best of luck with this.
