Is there an industry standard for instructors in regard to how often they cancel a class?
I have an instructor who has cancelled or had subs for her classes 25% of the time in the last year. Is there an industry standard in regards to how much “time off” an instructor can take without affecting her obligations to her students and the class? 25% would be equivalent to 1 in 4 classes which I feel is excessive. This makes me wonder about her true commitment to the class. What do you think would be an appropriate percentage amount to require of an instructor?
There is no standard except what the management has set. Three strikes and your out has always been a good one we use even with children. Overall, it is unprofessional to cancel often. My clients follow a 72 hour cancellation policy, since I hold them to that standard, I hold myself to it. Of course, emergencies happen every now and then- but not that often.
