I have an instructor who has cancelled or had subs for her classes 25% of the time in the last year. Is there an industry standard in regards to how much “time off” an instructor can take without affecting her obligations to her students and the class? 25% would be equivalent to 1 in 4 classes which I feel is excessive. This makes me wonder about her true commitment to the class. What do you think would be an appropriate percentage amount to require of an instructor?
I agree with above statements, I do group training for the Y, each month our wellness director sends out the schedule and requests for people who need substitutes. This way classes are covered, having said that things (emergencies) do come up, but it should be valid and if it has the possibility to be a consistent problem then the instructor should consider removing themselves from the class.
