Is there an industry standard for instructors in regard to how often they cancel a class?
I have an instructor who has cancelled or had subs for her classes 25% of the time in the last year. Is there an industry standard in regards to how much “time off” an instructor can take without affecting her obligations to her students and the class? 25% would be equivalent to 1 in 4 classes which I feel is excessive. This makes me wonder about her true commitment to the class. What do you think would be an appropriate percentage amount to require of an instructor?
Hello Maggie,
I don’t think there is an industry standard however, this should fall back in the hands of management.
How does the management feel about this instructors behavior? Are members complaining?
I think management should address this situation and find out what the underlying reason/s for her frequent cancellations and come up with a suitable policy.
Sincerely,
Michael
