Is the Spencer Pilates Certification a respectable Cert?
I have been taking Pilates at my local gym and I am interested in getting a certification. The NESTA Spencer Pilates Certification appealed to me since I could do it a my own pace at home. Is it considered a respectable certification to have if I chose to teach Pilates classes? Any input would really help.
I have the Spencer Pilates certification along with the Group Exercise certification. I agree with Karin in that the appeal is the affordability .. It was much more when I did it 10 years ago! However, prior to completing this certification I had numerous hours in the classroom with instructors as a student and as a mentee. I also have a great foundation on the anatomy of the body and exercise science.
Having said all that, even the hands on classes with pilates instruction don’t make you a great instructor once you complete. The respectable part comes from you learning and teaching yourself to be a better instructor and always learning more. Don’t stop at the online certification. Attend live classes to stay up to date on your own training and recognize this is a tool in the tool belt to assist you into being very respected as an instructor.
