IS SUGAR TOXIC?
Sugar is not toxic, but it can cause weight gain: http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-phentermine.aspx
If you mean toxic by poisonous, my opinion is no. Your body needs the sugar. It’s all about nutrient timing. For example, breakfast, pre and post workout is when your body can actually use sugar.
But if you mean poisonous being addictive, then I do think it would affect the body in that way. Call me captain obvious but anything in excess would cause dependence eventually and of course unwanted side effects and in this case being fat. Ever heard of “eat fruits and get fat”? It’s totally possible.
Hope I’ve helped.

Very good question, but what is sugar, anyway?
At least three different sugars considered “Sugar”: the first is sucrose – common “table sugar”, the second fructose, and the third glucose. The simplest form of carbohydrate is glucose, which is:
– a universal fuel for our bodies
– the only fuel source for our brain, red blood cells, and a growing fetus
– the main sourse of energy for our muscles during strenuous exercise
And also we have another “sugars” – disaccharids, oligosaccharides and complex carbs (polysaccharides).
A few years ago simple sugars were “bad” choice of carbohydrate and complex carbohydrate were the “good” choice. But now, with availiability of glycemic index and glycemic responce, everybody could easily calculate GL , read a food label and avoid large fluctuations in blood glucose level during the day.
With regards, Miroslava.
I personally do not see the substance itself as toxic. I think that, as with ANYTHING, it boils down to the amount ingested and its effect on the particular person ingesting it. As the saying goes, “too much of anything is not good.”

Do not forget about all the hidden sugars maltadextrose, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, xatham gum the names go on. What happens is that this causes a spike in insulin at a fast rate. This is one of the causes of obesity and the diabetic crisis ( science is finally proving this). There is plenty of anecdotal and empirical evidence. Have you ever seen a kid get a sugar rush. Then the child will beg for candy. If the child is not exposed to sweets they tend to make healthier food choices. We already have enough sugar from the foods we eat like bread, ketchup, all types of food have sugar. Why not use natural alternatives like honey or agave or eating fruits. It takes your body longer to process natural sugars. There was a nytimes piece on the topic. Natural unprocessed sugar is digested by all the cells in the body while the processed sugars are broken down by a few organs.
