I charge quite a bit more for 1-on-1 training than with group training. 1-on-1 training is individualized for the client. Group training is more general and geared towards the groups fitness level and general goal, not each participant. However, as a trainer you can generate more money teaching group training if you can attract and handle a large group of people.
When I am instructing one-on-one I do charge a higher rate than for group based sessions/classes.
You can understand the difference & challenges between the two. Group sessions offer more participation @ a lower investment and sometimes more “group” support.
Personal Training/Coaching for me is more direct. I have to focus on programming, motivating & educating the one, not many. It is just as draining as both afford my direct attention/energy. For some this can be more challenging than with “generalized programming” usually used in a group format.
Group should offer more “group motivation/support.” That is the real benefit, not the $, (just my opinion).
the only exception in favor of private training is when the person needs so much personal guidance that they would not get much out of a group class. In that case, the investment in a private session may be more affordable in the long run if the goal of the person is to learn to do himself.
