just about to push to go into a career as a personal trainer and was just woundering if I can do half in a gym half as a personal trainer so I will be able to build my client basis up without jumping in the deep end, cause I still need a steady income and cant afford to be earning basically nothing in my first month. I have been told its illegal to do so by someone but sounded like bull**** as I know some people who have done it. just need some clarifaction or some documentation to show if it is or is not. any help is appreciated.
I’m pretty sure that it depends on the gym that you work at. Some of the gyms will make you sign a clause in their documentation that limits you from training only their clients. I would make sure to confirm with the gym before you sign with them. If you go for a big corporate gym, there is a higher chance of this happening compared to going to a personal training studio or a local gym.
I strongly recommend doing what you are doing though. Starting out even part-time in a gym setting will help you get your feet wet and also spread the word about how great your services are. Keep up the hard work!
