Is it feasible to get certified as a LWMC before getting a more basic certification?
I have degree in exercise science and would like to be a wellness coach in the future. Consequently, I feel like I may be “jumping the gun” by becoming an LWMC before obtaining a more general certification. I wonder: will I be able to simply train clients with this cert? Furthermore, should I accrue an appreciable amount of time as a personal trainer before specializing ( I have some training experience, though never professionally)? Would it be better to get a CSCS or an ACSM HFS first? Thank you for any wisdom on this matter!
This all depends on your goals
If you only want to be a Wellness Coach then go for the LWMC and begin coaching once you have finished the program
If you then decide you want to include personal training, which is a great combination, then proceed with the next certification.
As to which certification, this is your choice, ACSM is the gold standard and very scientific, ACE is also very good and is extremely accessible to all fitness needs.
