Is anybody familiar with the Functional Fitness Test for Seniors (FFT) created by Jessie Jones, PhD and Roberta E. Rikli, PhD?
It is a very appropriate test for a frail client because it establishes a very realistic baseline on their functioning. In some cases you may even have to tone it down because you still want to give the client a bit of sense of success on being able to do something.
It is also a test that is very repeatable, even by another trainer, and can be used as a great motivation tool when the frail elderly see that they are making progress.
Karin,
Thanks for responding. Do you know of any source where I can look at pictures of the different sections of the test. I’d like to see exactly how the measurement is done for the chair sit and reach and the distance measurement for the Two-Minute March. The way it’s described on the document I have makes me picture it in a couple of different ways.
Thanks again,
It’s probably best to bite the bullet and get the manual from Amazon written by the authors http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0736033564?ie=UTF8&tag=fitness-testing-…
I looked around and could not find a definitive description.
