Hi. I run small group fitness classes. My classes are known for providing great workouts but I think I need to emphasize more the goal setting/tracking aspect of the training. I currently offer a free trial class to try out my gym. I was thinking of converting that free class into an initial consultation session or at least requiring an initial consult to become a full member. I am concerned thought that initial consult will appear as a barrier for people who really like my classes and want to get started “today”. What are your opinions? Am I overthinking this?
I assume that you have people sign a liability waiver when they take the free trial class.
If I were a potential participant, I would likely take the trial class but would shy away from the “free consultation”. I put that in quotation marks on purpose because often those “free” offers are nothing but a sales pitch, and that would be my first thought.
When they come back, you can still conduct an initial consult as part of our intake process, even though I would give people the option to waive that.
