I’m taking over a timeslot with a new class format….Any suggestions on how to “win” them over?

Enthusiasm for the members and the format
Presence / confidence
Very clear instruction
Clear communication of the purpose of the class

When launching a totally new format, represent it in the best way possible, so that people have a good idea of what it’s about. Some will like it. Others won’t. Some new people will try it. It will build on its own over time.

Just be yourself and have a passion for what you do. I never force these things; if I don’t enjoy it, i may not give it all that I can offer with any kind of consistency. That’s not good for the class or me. If it goes over well with me just being me then I know it was meant to be.

When I have started or sub for group fitness classes, it is important for them to know what to expect from the class, especially if it is one that I have designed. When I sub it is helpful to talk to the classses current instructor to get a feel for the format and class members.

Either way I kindly let them know it is my way, very nice though, expect to have some fun and when the music starts….

First, assume the participants are as excited and eager about the change as you are – this may in fact be so!
