I’m planning on starting a group fitness studio. Is having a shower a necessity?
I would say that having one shower might cause more problems than it will solve. I have had and not had showers available in facilities. It didn’t seem to make any difference. But there was some competition for a single shower after group classes when I had only one. I like having a shower for myself to use so I wouldn’t stink after my own workouts. But it/they did/do require a fair amount of work keeping it/them clean for everyone using it/them. The cost of putting showers in was not too bad though.
Hey again Danny,
If you are looking for the AM business crowd try to have it and locker area too. People want to be able to go and come to class from work. Shower is necessary.
Not knowing your location, the other option is if possible, wait until your business opens and see who the clients are.
You could also work it into capital budget later….

I think it completely depends on your clientele! I’ve run a fairly mobile business and it has been understood there is nothing available and it has not been a necessity or an issue…if space is limited I wouldn’t be overly stressed about it. That being said, Bryan makes a good point…so I think the BEST way for you to find out is to really reach out your current clients or potential clients & determine what their needs are; anytime you are opening up a new location or starting at a new venue, asking them what they are expecting is key to hitting your marks (and they’ll likely remind you of something that you might not yet have on your list…). Good luck!
