I’m looking for a website or software program (inexpensive) to plug my clients 3 day food diary into for analysis. Suggestions?
I have recommended utilized FitDay.com with clients. It has a free online program and also a free app, which one of my clients has utilized and spoke very highly of its user-friendly ability. I have used a variety of programs in the past, but when I came across FitDay years ago, I’ve found that the program continues to expand its functionality for both the client and the coach.
I do not provide my clients with daily diets as I’m not an RD (Registered Dietitian); however, I do spend time teaching healthy eating and will use the information that they have entered into the daily program, to then demonstrate with their reports generator to display how easily clients are missing meeting their requirements for vitamin and mineral intake. You can choose any specified time period (days, weeks, or month(s)) to then run the report to view the nutritional intake and how close it is in meeting their requirements.
I also explain to my clients how they can enter and create their own “pantry list” food item with the nutritional information entered right off of any packaging they utilized in making of any meal item. Once an item is entered it is kept on their list so that they can easily select it to use in the future (for instance the nutritional info on a slice of bread, type of yogurt, or specific brand of product not contained in their database.
Additionally, I stress the value and importance of utilizing all of the components that FitDay offers for free as it has a daily entry point for any information such as a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly weight input; daily journal for entries about anything occurring in their day; and also exercise (ADL/physical activity and traditional exercises) tracker to monitor kcal burned. There are numerous components to their free version and I’ve never received any advertising or unwanted e-mails from them.
