I’m 68 and enjoy the gym. Is there any research or statistics about how long other seniors can hold a plank, number of pushups,
Hi Colette,
It really doesn’t matter how long others can hold or not the plank and how many push-ups they can do. As long as you keep improving and feeling better then that is all that matters. But if you like to keep challenging yourself look into the link below:

Darn you Christine Hales!! You stole my answer LOL. Anyway Colette, I agree with Christine so I’ll give a “I second that motion” as my answer. Someone may very well be able to give you the stats but those would be averages…and you are unique!! You don’t have to compete or compare with anyone else. Chasing numbers can lead to disappointment (if you don’t reach them) or a swelled head (if you pass them!) Just start with what you can do and try to improve a little each time…just do YOUR best and you’ll be happier for it
Hi Colette,
It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoy the gym! Although someone else may be able to give you statistics on seniors and exercise, I say the sky is the limit! If you are in good health and can do push-ups and planks, go for your own personal best (think about hiring a personal trainer if you need more guidance or a specific program). Every individual is different and can achieve great things regardless of age–I see it every day in the gym.
Good luck to you and keep moving. You will be an inspiration to others!
Christine
