If trying to lose weight, is it ok to have a cheat meal on occasion?
It thoroughly depends on what you mean by, “on occasion”. Some people will began to make a habit of cheating. Once every couple weeks wouldn’t do too much damage. But make sure you stick to your guidelines and stay discipline. Don’t make your cheat day every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, because then you’ll stray away from your ultimate goal of losing weight.
Hope this helps,

In my opinion, ‘yes.’ As ‘they’ say though, “the devil is in the details!” The frequency of this cheat meal is very important, as well as what the cheat meal is consisting of.

I do allow my clients to have a cheat meal every now and then, but they can’t do it until a certain amount of time once they change their nutrition. Once they start eating whole, natural foods, after about 6-8 weeks I typically will let my clients have a day where they can binge-eat whatever they choose. Because of being on a nutrition plan that is designed to clear the body of all the built up toxins over the years and add in essential nutrients the body has been craving, this binge-eating of the foods they used to eat will usually make them feel very sick, loss of energy, and all around just feel horrible. It is a good way to show them exactly what those kinds of foods have been doing to their system for years and years without them ever knowing it. Usually, it is a very big wake-up call as to how important healthy nutrition is to the organism, and it helps them to realize that those little “cheat meals” aren’t really worth it in the end.
I do this with kids and adults, and I have had quite a bit of success with it so far.
