If I offer on-line exercises do I need insurance
I am looking at staring a website with me teaching on-line fitness videos, do I need insurance to cover myself, for example if someone ended up hurting themselves doing the exercises (hopefully not) or will getting them to sign a terms and conditions agreement before starting the exercises be enough?
Hi Julia,
I wouldn’t proceed without insurance. Even if you don’t technically need it, having it will build you a stronger professional foundation for your business and future endeavors–which may require it.
Purchasing insurance is a small price to pay for something that could potentially be very expensive for you…
I would say get the insurance, I’m not sure that liability insurance covers online fitness, but it’s worth it to have it. What I have dome is added Terms and Conditions to my website that includes a disclaimer. When someone purchases an online program from you, make it clear that by purchasing they agree to your terms and conditions.
Hope this helps!
I have a friend who has testified for the board of medical examiners in our state. The recommended language so that you’re not considered to be unlawfully practicing medicine should include something to the effect of:
“ this product does not treat any illness and is not approved by the FDA to treat or cure any illness”
