IDEA Personal Trainer or IDEA World Fitness Conference? Which one do you recommend attending
I am a Fitness Director at a JCC in Connecticut. I supervise a staff of personal trainers who work the fitness floor. I am also a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I have been to Mania’s and ECA several times, and am now looking to venture to an IDEA conference. I want to walk away with having hit workshops that tap into fitness center management as well as personal training and small group training. Mania’s and ECA have a heavy focus on group ex, I would like a focus on a broader spectrum. Can you tell me what each conference is like?
Hello Farrah,
having attended both quite often, I like to think that I am in a good position to compare. The IDEA Personal Trainer Institute is just that: focus on personal training and all the things that you are listing. The ‘expo’ is usually a LOT smaller with only very few vendors and some representatives from certifying organizations.
The IDEA World Fitness Conference is all of the above plus group fitness and a HUGE expo with new products both for personal training and group fitness.
I like the calmness of the former and enjoy the energy of the latter. As far as content is concerned, the quality of the lectures that I choose to attend are the same (heavy on personal training). I do enjoy, though, the opportunity to taking group classes as IDEA World has them, just for the sheer fun of it.
You cannot go wrong with either one of them.
