I would like to create a logo for my training business- does anyone have any experience with this process?
Hi Kara,
After having started 3 businesses in 3 different states I can tell you from experience that unless you are very savvy with designing logos and websites, hiring a professional web designer would be the best money you ever spent. Your logo and wedsite would be the front window to your business. If you have something that is purely designed it could affect your overall image (not great option for a start-up business like yours). One thing you can try is to contact someone who is a student in web designing (local universities or technical schools are great places to start your search) and see if they can help you as part of one of their projects or to add some experience into their portfolio. Good luck and I hope this helps.
Best,
Harris
Yes, you may be looking to save money, but you get what you pay for as well in many cases.
I have designed some logos and promotional items on my own in the past. But luckily the people doing my printing/promo items helped me clean them up for a reasonable fee. Because the final product was obviously better.
Hello Kara Kubala,
Congratulations and good luck with your training business.
Yes, I have experience; how do you like the second logo that I designed myself? I used the colors from the American and Ukrainian flags; guess why. Then I took my design to a printer and the rest is history. There was leg work involved but very cost effective. Do not be afraid to change something when needed, either; only the ten commandments are written in stone. I also asked for input from trusted sources: friends and family.
Take care,
Natalie aka NAPS 2 B Fit.
A cost effective way to use a graphic designer is to try Hatchwise. It’s like a contest for designers. You say how much you’re willing to pay for your logo design. You describe the basics of what you want. Then designers from all over the world submit designs to you. While your contest is open, you can rate and comment on the designs so other designers can see what you’re liking and what you’re not liking, so they can get closer to pleasing you.
i spent only $50 for my logo contest, and i got over 100 submissions. i ended up with three I liked very much and I chose one.
