I am not opposed to learning, but people attending the conferences walk out with CECs.
The tests are a bit daunting in comparison. As I say, I am not opposed to learning, but the difference in requirements is staggering and the questions are not easily answered by watching the videos and taking notes. And don’t sluff it off on that I am an idiot. I graduated number 1 out of a class of 525 from college. Your advertising for the CEC video program seems misleading. I am disappointed.
It is true that attendance does not equal understanding. The CEC system is actually based on a system that requires “time” spent in pursuit/acquiring knowledge. While there are definitely holes in the system, the video program “verifies” the viewing of the video by requiring the viewer pass a quiz. I too find some of the quizzes to be poorly written, but move on and take the knowledge I have acquired to be enough reward. Though that is not always easy to do on the first attempt.
Interesting point that you raise.
I’ve seen people walk out of an all-day training after signing in, and then come to pick up the CEC certificate at the end of the day. It does seem unfair that they would get the CECs for not even being there and someone who studied and put forth a reasonable effort would potentially not get the CECs.
I don’t claim to have the answer, but there’s got to be a way to at least minimally ensure the person buying the CECs paid some sort of attention to the material, whether it was live, online, or written.
I hope you found the course you took to be worth your time and effort, in spite of the mismatch between the materials and the test.
Thank you all. I spoke with a person from support and the questions are submitted by the presenters and not always congruent to the lectures and notes, making it much harder to pass the test. The support here is very, for lack of a better word, supportive. 😀 I would encourage people who have similar difficulties with a test to contact support for assistance.
