i walk 30 mins brisk then 10k total steps in a day. is this enough
I’d love to know if you are still walking 10,000 steps a day and brisk walking. And if so, how is your continued health? Did you adopt any weight training / flexibility?
My hope for you is that you continue to be healthy and that you considered adding some weight training, perhaps exchanging some of the time you spent walking for some weight training.
I would add resistance training and stretching. I recommend you find a fitness professional near you and work with them personally. Otherwise, it is very likely that you are at best wasting valuable time not getting what you need from your program and at worst doing something incorrectly that could lead to an injury.
Gene,
First, I am very impressed by how much you have a accomplished so far. As stated above in a previous response not many people get in a brisk walk and 5 miles per day.
The question you need to ask yourself is do you feel you are reaching your personal fitness goal based on the amount of exercise you are getting on a daily basis? If yes, you are getting in the right amount that you need to reach the desired goal. If you feel you are not making progress towards your goal, you may want to consider reevaluating your goal and what you need to do to get there.
Best of luck to you! Feel free to reach out to me with any other questions.

Hi Gene. To expand a bit on my earlier answer. As you probably know and understand, if your goal is overall fitness, then again, my answer would be “no” this is NOT enough. True “fitness” is comprised of FIVE elements (muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility and body composition). The program that you describe in your question above does NOT address all of these components. So, if your goal is ‘GENERAL FITNESS,’ I would recommend – after seeking your physician’s approval of course – adding exercise that addresses ALL of the five components.
I hope that this helps.
