I have personally been exploring and testing similar software for some time now to determine what the best fit is for my business. There are allot of online base programs that each offer a little of what one needs to fulfill all the desired criteria (payment, scheduling, client profile / info collection, routines, exercises, assessment testing, documents, client interaction, etc). Most of the software is still developing and in a 6 months to a year there will be some extremely developed options on the market. I currently suggest amstatz.com. They are fairly new, respond well to feedback, and are continually creating new and useful features. It does include everything I was previously looking for, but some of the features need additional work. When I talked with a representative who took me through the online data base by sharing screens, first, they were very helpful and direct, and secondly is appears by next Feburary the newest features will be added (example exercise video share with clients / currently they just have photos, documents / sheets for clinets that can be signed online). I recommend going to their site and ask for a tutorial, which last around 20 minuets. Also, the interface is customizable and appears best used when linked to a simple business website. In addition, their site is user friendly for PC, Apple, Droids, ipad, etc, which allows for easy use for all trainers and clients.
If you just want scheduling and payment, Mind and Body are the most widely used and best in this given speciality. I am currently trying amstatz.com for a month to see how it works for me and will add any further insight or suggestions to this thread over time. I am curious what other Fitness business owner’s will recommend, but right I will say that the process is a bit of trial and error to find the best fit. Just make sure the developers you choose are willing to work with you by taking and apply feedback to further develop their software. Also, I would lean more towards month to month payment, so you have the option to bail at anytime if you are unsatisfied.
I hope my feed was helpful and best of luck with developing your business! Feel free to contact me with any additional questions.

Thank you Alex and Karin. Both Amstatz and Insight are definitely on my list. They both seem to have great functionalities. Now I just need to do more research on hardware (i.e. Cash drawer, credit card swipe, security system, etc) and see what it takes to integrate them to a system. Basically I am looking for a single turnkey solution. It would be painful to have to maintain multiple systems if everything could be integrated seamlessly. We don’t have a dedicated person at our front desk so it would nice to find a system that integrates well with a security system.
Thanks in advance. Any feedback or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
I am Lawrence with Gym Insight. I know it can be tedious to find the right gym management system for your business operations, as there are a lot of great gym management companies out there.
Insight focuses on simple software. With that said, we do not have a scheduling feature, yet (it is only in the research phase). So if that is a deal breaker for you, I wanted to let you know right away.
If not, I welcome you to register and try out the program for up to 100 members for free. You can also download the check in access system to see if it will serve your business operational needs.
I wish you well in your search and great success in your new gym venture!
