I do not use these types of agreements. I do have trainers sign a statement that specifies that my facility is giving them the opportunity to make a living and find clients through the facility. That I spend money on advertising and promotion to help them gain clients at the facility. And that it is unethical for them to leave this job and take clients with them. I also include a statement in the new client information that educates them about my costs and that the gym provides trainers with a place to work without the worries and operating costs of running a gym. And that I appreciate their loyalty to the gym if their trainer decides to go their own way. I also make it my business to seek out and create rapport with every member at the gym. I answer all complaints personally and make every effort to satisfy every customer. It has worked well in most cases. The few times it hasn’t worked, are not worth the aggrevation and time to contest.
