I was previously certified in cheap online personal training certification. It was terrible how easy it was. Since then I’ve realized the importance of having the right credentials and am getting certified online through AFAA. I would love some general advice about focal points. For example, do I really need to know the metabolic processes my heart? Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks, I have found this site and threads, so I can prepare for the exams now. It is difficult as I have to prepare for my college exams too, but it is a little bit easier. My friend gave me some tips and said that the only thing which will prepare me is getting good marks, so I need the best website to buy assignment which he is also using)) He said here I could find reviews on the best assignment writing service as it provides assignments from great writers really quickly, but what more important is so qualitative. But with the AFAA PT exam and the practical exam harder, I really need help, so thanks for sharing, friends!
Thanks for checking! Passed with flying colors.. Definitely spent a little too much time of certain sections but it’s better to be safe.. The practical exam was especially easy for me having already been a PT for so long. Thanks for the helpful info! I will say I used the Quizzlet app and found it SO helpful! Pass that along to anyone who asks about good tools for studying for these exams!
There are really two sorts of preparation. There is the preparation to get through the exam, and there’s actual learning in a way that will be practical to clients. They don’t always overlap because in training we often have to consider several concepts at once and it’s more in the form of a narrative than a nice tidy question. Since you’re asking about the test, I’ll answer with respect to the test.
Single most helpful thing that I did was to make my own flash cards. It made me learn in several ways, by reading, writing, forming questions and answers and reconsidering them. I kept piles for cards I’d answered correctly 5 times and for those I hadn’t answered correctly 5 times yet, so I was only flipping through cards I still needed to learn. That’s the “old fashioned way” since there weren’t any testing apps when I took my group-ex and PT exams.
Does AFAA have a study app? One of my friends used the app for NASM as her preparation for the NASM exam. It helped her to think about the materials in the form of short Q&A, which helped her get through the test with flying colors.
Also, I found it helped for my PT certification if I re-read the chapters on the two areas where I felt the weakest, right before the exam.
It’s great that you realize the importance of having the proper credentials for personal training.
My personal training certification was through ACE and not AFAA, but one thing that helped me prepare was to know how much of each subject would be on the exam. In the back of my manual, ACE broke it down by percentage of each area that was to be covered on the exam. Check to see if AFAA does the same thing as it can help you to go over and strengthen any areas where you may be weak.
Also, are there any practice tests that you can take? They may make you feel more comfortable in understanding the types of questions on the exam and how they will be worded. My suggestion is to make sure you understand the material and be able to translate it to real life situations (and not just regurgitate or memorize the information). In addition, sometimes you can find or create flash cards to help you study.
I hope some of these suggestions help you. Good luck on your exam and keep us posted!
