I am AFAA certified and I want to create my own dance Baby-parents class format can I do it?
So I am Zumba instructor, very soon I will have my prenatal certification. I just have a baby 6 months ago. I have been wanting to do a dance class with parents and babies in their carries. I know is a company called Boogarroo and they are just doing certification to teach in California . I live in Nort Carolina, so no worth it . Their format is just pop music. But I am latina and I would love to mix variety of music and make it my own style. What do I need to do to create my own format?
All you need is to put in the work. There is no reason you can’t create your own classes. People become instructors of classes like Zumba because the classes are popular and already designed/choreographed for them. You can’t legally use licensed materials from existing programs. Other than that, you are free to design any class you want to design. Using Zumba as an example, it is my understanding that as long as you aren’t using Zumba’s name or any music they own the rights to, you won’t be doing anything illegal as far as Zumba goes.
