how to host a fitness conference in my local area.
Well, the first thing you would have to do is choose what your conference or workshop would be about. Do you want to host something with exercise involved, or will it be more of a ‘teacher to student’ kind of thing? I think teaching parents how to get their kids active and involved would be a great idea, and maybe set up some kid-friendly and kid-safe circuits. Just make sure you get a waiver from the parents.
Will it be just once, or repeating for a week?
How much will you charge or will it be free?
Where would you like to host it?
Make sure the space you will rent is big enough. I’ve heard of a few trainers contact small studio gyms and asking to rent their space out.
Also, you need to have a game plan for marketing your workshop. You could reach out to advertising agencies or go door to door. Social media is probably your best bet though. Maybe email someone you know who has done something like this before and ask them for some more advice. Good luck to you!
Hello Yolanda Torres,
It depends on how small or large an event you plan to employ. You could attend other health and fitness fairs, look around, ask questions and enjoy your camaraderie.
I suggest a small event to start. You will learn as you go.
Think of this as planning a huge reception with plentiful vendors.
Take care,
Natalie aka NAPS 2 B Fit.
Hosting a fitness fair (which is what I think you are asking) can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. There is a great deal involved in having anything more than a few showcase classes. If you are really looking to do this in a large scale way, I recommend you find a community near you that already hosts fitness events/fairs and attend theirs for ideas. Make contacts there and try to get involved in helping them put their event on. You might then get help from that community to put on your event as well.
I agree with Tyler Freitag that you should clarify the scope, regularity, idea of the event and some other nuances. I can advise you to look at https://digthesegigs.com/ where people can find tickets at normal prices. Look at the various options for organizing and perhaps find inspiration for yourself. But in any case, start with a clear definition of what people should endure after attending your event.
