You know…her underweight may be her normal weight. Is there a health concern? If so, see a doctor and whoever they recommend. Otherwise, stick to a healthy lifestyle, eat a balanced diet, and get proper rest and exercise.
The danger pitfall may be comparing self to others.
If all is well and good, I agree with weight training, at 75% of 1RM, and having her speak to a registered dietitian.
