Hi Patricia. As a former health insurance attorney for a large health insurance company I can tell you from my experience that in today’s world many of these types of companies are looking for ways to reduce their costs and improve their benefit offerings to their members. My single piece of advice would be to pick-up the phone and call them (generally, starting with either their Member Benefits Department or even HR if you’re targeting offering their employees your services).
Good luck and the key is not to get discouraged when you hear ‘No,’ it will happen often but perseverance will pay off!
One thing that helps is the ability to read and accurately interpret the ACA. Poring through legal code sections isn’t a joy (it’s good reading for the insomniac!). Not the whole thing, but I think it’s around Title 10 that has all the code sections related to fitness and wellness programs. You will want to have a working knowledge of these so that you can decide which one(s) you want to help with and be able to describe how your work will fall directly within code section ___, subsection ____, part ____.
