How successful was your strategic partnerships with P.T. etc. plus is there a way around Medicare policies?
Am growing a stronger partnership with a top local Physical Therapist who deals with Old Adults and Athletes. First trying to find ideas to market more and second accepting movement fitness “therapy” training under fall prevention. So in other words: Is there a way insurance can pay for it? There are ways….but its finding the right words.
I agree that Adriadne’s response is great. I have often worked with PTs, since many of their patients can certainly benefit from the expertise of a qualified personal trainer to develop follow-up programs following specific therapy. Just be sure to adhere to the recommendations and limitations given in consulting with the PT(s) who provide the therapy. I also suggest that you contact the specific insurance provider for clear information regarding its rules and guidelines for applying for coverage.
Good luck.
Coding for reimbursement is complex. Yes, it would be helpful to be able to offer services for which people can seek reimbursement. But keep in mind that insurance companies will have entire departments of people making sure they are not paying out any more than they are required by the letter of the law. And anything you might make is never worth putting yourself in a position where simply because something got coded wrong by mistake you get accused of medicare fraud.
Is your business large enough for you to be able to hire someone to help with billing who is trained in this? That is the safest way to go. If not you might ask your lawyer, or ask your insurance company. I do not think a trainer is considered a professional who can bill for these services, but if they are working under the direction of a PT could the PT bill for them? That is a good question to ask.
