how should I prepare for a personal training position interview?
Hi Hema,
First you need to be confident on the way you sit, move, talk and the way you dress. Always look the person who will be interviewing you in the eyes and stay calm (I know this can be tough to do, but you have nothing to worry about). Below are some of the questions you might be asked for this type of position:
-Tell me about yourself and you work experience (this is very common question even though the interviewer has your resume in front of him/her)
-What do you know about our company (do some research before you go)?
-Tell me about a client which you’ve had difficult time with and how did you resolve/handle the situation?
-What are the type of clients you prefer to work with?
-Why do you want to work here?
-Which days and times are you available to work? Are you looking for part-time or full-time (these are the easiest of the questions…pretty straight-forward)?
-Where do you see yourself in 2-5 years?
-Do you have any questions for us (meaning the interviewer…you better have a few questions for him/her because it shows that you have interest of them and their company)?
These are few of the typical questions gym owners/managers like to ask and it depends on the company/gym and the person who interviews you. Many times you might have to go through 2 or more interviews before you get hired, but remember first impression is everything. There might be others applying for the same position as you with the same or more experience, but the first impression will always stay in the back of the minds of your interviewers, so try to be at the top of your game. Some nervousness is normal so don’t worry to much about that.
Good luck!!
Best,
Harris
