How should I building out my new personal tranining studio?
I’m looking to acquire a 2,000 square foot personal training studio. 1000 square feet is on the first level and 1,000 square feet is on the second level. I just need some help on like what to have?
i.e. I know I need to have my own office, a bathroom (already included in the space) now should I get a separate room for changing? Any other specialty space you would recommend or you think would be good to have? I was thinking of having a changing room, but also make it the fitness assessment room.
99.9% of my clients normally come already change. So I was thinking about having the changing room/fitness assessment room.
I have over 30 clients, over 70% of them been with me for over 3 years. so I know nearly all 30 clients would follow me to the end of the earth. So super fancy I don’t think is needed. It’s more the quality of service and the results people get that brings them back.
THANKS 🙂
I agree with Karin that a curtained or closed-off storage space might be good. A lovely no-frills studio that I visited last week had some HUGE storage shelves – about 3 feet deep and 12 feet wide, next to an open area for tall items the same depth and maybe 8 feet wide – all hidden by a simple but attractive curtain. They had all sorts of equipment for classes, cleaning materials, extra flooring, etc. behind the curtain.
At least a few full-length mirrors so clients can see their own form
A bar hanging 12-18 inches from the wall for pull-ups, CrossCore, TRX and other suspended activities. Better yet, a slat wall, if you attach a lot of bands etc. at varying heights.
Hi Louben,
I think much of it depends on how you intend to use the space and how many people will be there at any given point in time. I share our studio only with my husband who also trains. The one bathroom doubles up as a changing room, and this has been completely sufficient because at most we have 4 people at the studio at once when they overlap between sessions.
2000 sf studio space is quite a large space, and I wonder whether you think of making this available to other trainers. In that case, an extra changing room may be worth a consideration.
One more specialty space: a place to store cleaning utensils such as vacuums, brooms and such.
Congratulations on your new studio.
