I’m a full time gym manager and I don’t have an extensive training schedule. I’d like to do SGT to maximize the return on my time investment. I plan to meet with my class twice per week – same time and day each week. One person wants to start training, but I hesitate to start until I have at least my minimum number of participants enrolled. Should I tell her I need to wait for more people to enroll? Naturally, I’m reducing the per person rate for SGT, so I definitely don’t want to end up doing one-on-one traininig when it’s supposed to be SGT. How would you all handle this situation?
I would wait until I had the minimum number of participants I’m looking for, in order to make my time worth. One way to approach it is to ask this client to bring some people he/she might know and try or sign up for the class. If this doesn’t work, then it might best to wait. The reasons you have mentioned in your question are good enough in order to postpone the class until you get the minimum number of people that you need.
How have you marketed the class? If you teach any other classes you could announce the new small group training and hold a demonstration or two. Visibly seeing others doing the new class may generate interest and excitement in the new program.
It’s best to wait until you have the minimum amount enrolled in the class, but do announce it, advertise it, post on social media forums, and get them excited about it.

I seem to be the odd ball here. I have trained SGT to one person quite a few times since I am in a small neighborhood… for the reason of people seeing us, that gets the word out. Now, when they see us enjoying ourselves, laughing and feeling great about ourselves, the numbers increase.
You will ultimately need to do what is best for your business.
