I ALWAYS make time for my own workouts. Even after working all day, coming home to cook dinner, clean up, and play with my kids. I make sure that I find at least 20 minutes to get my own workout in. So, that being said I usually am working out at 8:00/9:00 at night. I always tell people if I have three kids and a job and find time to workout they can too. 🙂

I give my program the same amount of time I give for my clients’ programs. What good am I to someone else if I am not in top form, mentally and physically?
I constantly remind myself, as I do my clients, that, in order to help others we must help ourselves.

Good question… I just recently made a change in my schedule and reduced some of my hours for this very reason. (I do personal training and teach fitness classes). I found I was taking care of everyone else and helping them with their goals, but on the way to neglecting myself.
Now that I have added a day off to my schedule, I feel much better. I have more energy, more time with my family, and more time to take care of myself.
I had to learn to say no to some things, but I am much better for it.

Being a group fitness instructor as well as a personal trainer, it can be difficult to get my own workouts in. It is important to me to take the time to plan and execute my own workouts in order to take care of myself. I try to focus on my group fitness classes as time to help the members and not time for my workout. If we don’t take time to care for ourselves, how good of a role model will we be for our clients?
