How many trainers pay “rent” without financial documentation and how many actually have indie written contracts?
I’m a former CPA and tax accountant (two separate credentials – not all CPAs do taxes). I don’t do client work any more, but I can point you a couple of places.
I highly recommend going directly to the IRS site or to a licensed tax preparer / tax accountant with your tax questions. Two people who appear to have different jobs can have entirely different tax pictures depending on their their income, marital status, whether they itemize, etc.
Here’s where to get your basic information

The difference between employees and contractors is a facts and circumstances test, and everywhere that I’ve been an independent contractor, I’ve had a contract that specifies either the rent I pay or the way money will be remitted to me in the case where the club already had an accounting system and made reservations for me for a fee.
Hello Andrea Carlomusto,
I make sure to document everything and stay professional.
Thank you,
