How many of you know what a Bulgarian Split Squat is..or have done one?
Hi Susan, I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same exercise cause you can also do regular split squats using an 8lb medicine ball (over your head) and just stand in the same position without using the bench. With the Bulgarian split squat you have one leg “elevated” up behind you on a bench or step which is where the balance issue comes in and it is best to use the barbell when doing this exercise to help with the balance issue, as opposed to doing a regular split squat that you would use the medicine ball with.
Hey Dorine. I have been doing these with my Jungle Gym XT attatched to the bar. My ankle has been fractured for a couple of months now and can only support a small amount of weight so I only use that leg if the the bar reaches the safety arm on my rack, otherwise its just barely touching the ground. If you have some straps (TRX or whatever), you should try it. Feels kinda like a free moving power rack but without the lateral stability. Can’t wait till I can switch out legs, I think this could be a great exercise to build my injured leg back up… but not until I get some ankle strength.
