How many Hours of Continued Education did you take in 2010?
Thanks Louie for our question.
How many hours one spends increasing their education and how many continuing education credits were counted are two very different entities.
Continuing education is not limited to courses that we pay for. Continuing education comes in many forms, reading journals like the Journal of Strength and Conditioning, ACSM MSSE and Health Fitness Journal, Idea Journal.
I can’t begin to count the hours or money that I have spent growing professionally. What I will say though is that I think it is important that as a fitness professional that my approach remain scientifically relevant.
For me, I spend 100’s of hours outside of “official Continuing Education units” doing reading, research and writing in the filed. I think it’s vitally important to stay abreast of the latest reputable research and trends in our industry because things change, and our clients are often being bombarded with a lot of inaccurate fitness messages.

There is always the basic amout of required CEC’s that must be met for A.C.E. In 2010, I logged 15 hours of official study. Then there is the reading, reviewing and studying that I completed on an unofficial level.
I do not keep official track of my unofficial study. I realize that as I discover new findings through research articles, attain new knowledge by attending seminars and presentations, I must be ready to incorporate those findings into my knowledge base.
I always keep constant, my search for knowledge and my efforts to improve. There are many resources available that can assist in the attaining of these goals.
