I started teaching senior fitness classes about 16 years ago after subbing for a friend who was taking a long vacation and was desperate to find a fill in for his seniors. At that time I only worked with competitive athletes and junior athletes. They were doing Pilates, but when no one was available to take over the class, they were willing to do something new until their instructor returned. I found it so enjoyable and rewarding that I began to take CEC courses and research fitness for seniors and aging populations. I teach at several classes now each week targeting our aging population and enjoy immensely. I teach movement and balance classes, fall avoidance and what to do after falling classes, strength for older pops classes, and aquatic exercise for seniors classes. I also teach privately.
